Product Type Breakdown
Rolled - The artwork is an original artwork by the artist (acrylic on canvas) and will be delivered rolled in a tube. Note that a rolled canvas has to be stretched before it can be displayed or mounted on a wall. A rolled canvas option is ideal if you want more freedom to plan the stretching and framing of your painting.
Stretched- The canvas is wrapped with .75″ or 1.5″ premium wood stretcher bars so you are able to hang it on a wall immediately. This option is ideal if you want a ready to hang painting delivered at your doorstep. These custom built stretcher bars prevent crinkles during handling and shipping.
Framed - The painting is stretched and custom framed to enhance the beauty of the artwork. We begin by adding a white “liner". A liner is made by wrapping a small wood frame in fabric. The liner creates a nice separation between the painting and the frame. Then, we add a quality wood frame of your choice. You can choose from three contemporary classic options: walnut, mahogany, or simple black. This option is ideal if you want to bring out the best in your newly acquired artwork and skip your local frame shop completely.
About The Artist
Damola Ayegbayo is a Nigerian artist born to a teacher and a farmer in 1988. Inspired by his grandfather, who was a painter and a sculptor, Ayegbayo became interested in art at a young age. After graduating from university, he knew that he wanted to become an artist full-time.
Ayegbayo’s style of painting is known as ÀBÈFÉ, which is an expressionist style of art that means “pleaded to be loved” in the artist’s native language. Many of his paintings feature strong black women painted in vibrant colors to create something that is meaningful and attractive.
“The concept of using black women is a reference to my loving mother and the role other women have played in my life. An image of a black beautiful woman always reminds me of how my strong mother trained and brought me up with love and good morals. She helped me discover my real self,” he says.
Damola Ayegbayo’s “A Mother’s Love” transports you to a time when the biggest worry in our world was that somebody had taken away our toy. Or that we’d fallen off the slide and bruised our knee. Big troubles in a small world but ones we were quick to forget about. Then, there were our mothers: brave, kind, and always present. It didn’t matter how lovely or awful the world had been to them, they were our rock. And to them, we were their reason. It makes for good poetry and great art, no?
